Comes on the road from Övedskloster, crosses the national road and drives into Södra Åsum outside Sjöbo. Puts the car outside Södra Åsum's old church which is unfortunately locked. There are two bridges here, a new one that is closed to car traffic. Upstream next to is the old Åsum bridge. A stone arch bridge with four arches and a small dug gutter that goes to the watermill downstream. The bridge was built in 1764 by Hans Ramel, Övedskloster. The bridge was taken out of service in 1936. Quote from text by the National Heritage Board:

"During the 16th century, a number of ordinances were issued by the Royal Chancellery in Copenhagen regarding the improvement of roads and bridges in the country. The wooden bridge in Åsum required several and expensive repairs and rebuildings, which put a heavy burden on the common people. Colonel Ramel offered to build in 1764 a permanent stone bridge over three arches for 6,400 dales, which would be taken up from the peasants. During the construction of the bridge, Ramel considered that further a fourth vault on the south side should be added. The farmers in Färs had already spent so much money on the bridge that they were unwilling to pay Ramel for this fourth vault The farmers had already paid significantly more than Ramel had requested for the bridge construction. The sheriff Hein had taken large sums of money from the farmers and put it in his own pocket, only a small part of the embezzled money was paid back to Färsbön derna."

On the upstream side there are pointed protruding portions to distribute ice and current flows. There is also a semicircular bulging part. With a little effort it is possible upstream to get down to the river from the south side where there is a gate to a path along the river and the dug canal to the watermill. We follows a bit, beautiful autumn colors. Two fishermen pass. Downstream it is a little worse to get down but on the north side it is possible to get down to the vegetation along the river. It starts to rain a little, time to drive home.
