July 9
It is not often that Stora Harrie Church is open,
so it is important to take the opportunity to visit the church
and the runestone that is built into an inner wall.
It is open as a roadside church for a few days this summer.
The runestone was found in the church floor in the mid-19th century
and was built into the church wall where it still sits. The runestone is not complete.
When you enter the nave from the armory, it is located in the outer wall directly
to the right under the organ stand. A bit hidden, I have to move a table
to get to it. Above the stone is a sign with a drawing and
the text on the stone:
Boule set (the stone) after Toke, his brother-in-law.
The stone has a cross, interpreted as having been erected by Christian Scanians.
It can be dated to 900-1050.
