green oasis in Lund with pond, restaurant, cafe, city wall, playground, sculptures, fountains, plants, scene. The location of Lunda race and last April celebration. Inaugurated 1911.

July 22, 2011: City Park Café
Tests the restaurant section of City Park Café in City Park in Lund. It is weather to sit outside. Selects Wallenbergare for 195 crowns, very good, but not to become a really satisfied. The wine, which I forgot the name of, tastes good. Must have a dessert also to feel satisfied, choose Crème Brûlée, topped with strawberries. This I am satisfied with.

June 12, 2011:City Park celebrates 100 years.
1907 took the Lund exhibition place, 250,000 visited the industrial, handicraft and art exhibition. 1911 was the city park inaugurated on the site, this year it celebrates the 100 years. To the jubilee is the park expanded and the park café from 1921 has been extended with a restaurant. The celebration takes place from 19 June, and then a full program the rest of the year.

I put my bicycle at the café. I feel for coffee, but it is fully booked. It is traditional jazz with Bluelight jazz band. I have an ice cream instead, I put myself in the ice cream queue. Three balls in a cup: walnut, caffe latte, rhubarb. Ecologically, it is. I eat the ice cream standing  while listening to the trad jazz.

The restaurant area has been built on the back of the café. A modern architecture. A new entrance to the park is being completed here, a large car park house has been built. Not only for the park, but also to Lund Arena (indoor sport, conferences, concerts). The bath Högevall is being renovated, on the 120 meter fence surrounding the construction site have young artists made paintings related to the park. Really nice. A carp, figures, an animal (cat) in tails and top hat, ....

The only building remaining from the 1907 exhibition is the bandstand. On the field below are one playing boules. A high memorial stone was erected at the dam as a memory of the exhibition and the park's creation. I cross Högevall, the old city ramparts, to the playground. The artwork Tufsen is used as a climbing frame. At the playground is a hornbeam maze, wandering around in it a while. Children run in and out. Cool me at the fountain, which existed before the exhibition. Pomona, goddess of fruit and gardens, stands naked, looking out over the park.

8 May 2010: with the narcissi and Lunda Race (Lundaloppet).
I set the bike at the sports hall. On the old city wall, Högevall, daffodils bloom. In the flower bed are dazzling varieties of daffodils. The naked woman (in the form of a statue) seems to enjoy the splendor. At the scene of Gröningen prepares runners and supporters for the Lunda Race, an annual race of 10 kilometers on the streets of Lund. On the lawn in front of the stage students are playing a game. A shot, the start of the race has gone. A police car is driving in the lead, then the car showing the time. A runner leads already superior. After a moment the great mass of several thousands runners arrive. Supporters are cheering. I ran the race for many years, a bad foot makes me no longer to run well on asphalt. A nice race. I want coffee, but the City Park Café is closed on May 7 to 8. Enjoy the daffodils instead. Waiting for the runners on the second 5 km lap. The leader is even further ahead, the mass is more stretched, some are tired. Ducks are untroubled by the running about. A duck and coot cools their feets in the outflow of a pond. Trees at the big pond are shifting into green. Chestnut tree are about to unfold their flowers.
