January 27, 2013: Eastern Cemetery in Lund was inaugurated in 1847 as a privately owned (limited liability company) cemetery, they found the road to the new northern cemetery was too long. It was operated privately until 1885.

I put the bike in the path towards Botan. The snow is beautiful on the graves. In summer it is a green oasis. Here are some interesting and nice burial sites. Some are real monuments. Carl Adolph Aghards tomb are among the most magnificent. He was a professor in Lund in the early 1800s, after that he became bishop of the Diocese of Karlstad. Some of the student nations have their own burial grounds, such as Småland and Västgöta.

I walk around among the tombs, walkway up and walkway down. Looking for the Lund world-renowned artist Carl Fredrik Hill's grave. He's pretty well known outside Lund also. Did most landscape paintings. He was mentally ill, was admitted to the hospital, but was dissatisfied by the care, so he was nursed at home for 28 years before he died in 1911. Do not find the grave.
