Take the train to Nørreport, where our Danish friends meet. Go up Øster Voldgade to Rosenborg Castle. The castle was built in the early 17th century by Christian VI. He had bought land that was made into a park, Kongens have. Initially as a small pleasure palace, but he had it expanded to its current appearance. The castle is still owned by the Danish royalty, but is open to the public. We have not booked a ticket but this year there are not many visitors. The castle has well-preserved royal rooms and environments from the time (until 1710) when the royals lived at the castle.

Upstairs, a narrow staircase leads up to it, is the Knights' Hall. Banquet and audience hall. Here is the coronation chair, guarded by three silver lions. Tapestry shows Christian V's victory in the Scanian War of 1675-1679. Although he lost the war. A joke chair that leaks water when you sit on it, as if you've peed on yourself. A glass cabinet.

In the basement is the treasury with royal regalia and crown jewels. In one room are things made of ivory, including a model of a ship.
