Take the train to Österport where we meet our Danish friends. Go through Østre Anlæg on the west side towards Stockholmsgade. Here was once a fortification with a moat and bastions. ow a peaceful park. Pass by the Statens Museum for Kunst before we go out onto Stockholmsgade for a visit to Den Hirschsprungske Samling. An art museum with Danish art from the 19th century onwards. The museum is not large but interesting, it takes a while to walk through. The collections and the museum are donated by the tobacco manufacturer Heinrich Hirschsprung and his wife Pauline. Here are several works by Vilhelm Hammershøi, the artist whose life is described in the book "Kvinna sedd bakifrån". The Skagen painter Krøyer and others. The temporary exhibition is "Soldiers, art and the Danes in war 1848-1864". We get a guided tour by our friends about the wars. Go to have lunch at "Under uret" a short distance from the museum. Almost full, we are lucky to get a table. The atmosphere is good, hard to make yourself heard. The sandwiches are a bit boring, expected more. Time goes by quickly. Walk on the east side of Østre Anlæg back to Österport and the train home.
